Who We Are and Our Mission

Pathway for Warriors was founded on a simple but powerful idea: the skills developed in military service can be redirected toward protecting our environment and preserving Florida’s natural heritage. Pathway for Warriors addresses two critical challenges at once: environmental protection and veteran transition. Through the Institute for the Removal of Invasive Species (IRIS), veterans receive specialized training that prepares them to safely and effectively locate and remove destructive invasive species across Florida. This program provides veterans with a renewed sense of mission while directly contributing to conservation efforts that protect wildlife and restore ecosystems.

Many of the veterans who participate in this work are living with PTSD or combat-related trauma. Their heightened awareness, resilience and commitment to mission make them uniquely suited to this work - and the sense of purpose it provides can be profoundly meaningful.

Core Values

Mission Driven Service

We believe the sense of purpose developed through military service never fades. Pathway for Warriors empowers veterans to continue serving by protecting Florida’s ecosystems and defending wildlife from destructive invasive species. Every mission restores both environmental balance and personal purpose.

Strategic Partnerships

With Pathway for Warriors’ exclusive strategic partnership with Open Ocean Health, Inc, we will now be able to develop programs for participating veterans to access proactive well care tools designed to identify health risks early, provide personalized health insights, and connect them with integrated services that support long-term wellbeing.

Strength and Opportunity

Veterans possess extraordinary discipline, resilience, and leadership. We transform those strengths into new career opportunities through hands-on training, environmental field work, and skilled trade education that leads to meaningful, long-term employment.

Dual Restoration

Our work is about restoration in every sense. As veterans help restore Florida’s fragile ecosystems, we help restore stability, confidence, and hope in their lives- creating a future built on service, dignity, and lasting impact..

Transforming Lives and Ecosystems Together

At the center of this mission is the Institute for the Removal of Invasive Species (IRIS), Pathway for Warriors’ specialized training and operational program located at our Central Florida educational campus. IRIS prepares veterans to safely and effectively identify, track, and remove destructive invasive species threatening Florida’s ecosystems. Participants receive advanced field training, environmental education, and operational support that enables them to contribute directly to conservation efforts across the state. For many veterans - particularly those living with PTSD or combat-related trauma- this work provides something profoundly important: a renewed mission.
Their heightened awareness, resilience, and commitment to protecting others make them uniquely suited to safeguarding Florida’s wildlife and natural environments. Through IRIS, veterans transform their military experience into meaningful environmental impact.

Turning Service Into Purpose

Many veterans possess extraordinary skills developed through military service—but too often they return home without clear pathways to apply those abilities. Pathway for Warriors recognizes that veterans living with PTSD and combat-related trauma often retain the vigilance, focus, and determination needed to confront complex challenges. By placing these veterans on teams dedicated to protecting Florida’s wildlife, we create an opportunity for them to channel their strength, discipline, and leadership into a mission that matters.

The result is powerful: Veterans protecting ecosystems while rediscovering purpose, connection, and pride in service.

Building Careers Beyond the Mission

In addition to environmental conservation work, Pathway for Warriors is deeply committed to rebuilding the lives of veterans who are transitioning from active duty without transferable job skills—as well as veterans experiencing homelessness.

Through our partnership with AmSkills, a respected Florida nonprofit workforce training organization, we help veterans gain hands-on experience in high-demand skilled trades including:

  • Hands-on training in manufacturing skills with industry partnerships for job placement
  • Comprehensive training in high demand trades
  • Specialty construction buiilding modular workforce housing designed to be virtually maintenance-free
  • Industrial plant maintenance management

These industries urgently need skilled professionals. By providing veterans with practical, sustainable career paths, Pathway for Warriors not only helps fill critical workforce shortages across Florida—it restores dignity, stability, and long-term opportunity to those who served.

Sustainable Change

Our commitment to both conservation and veteran support ensures that each initiative leads to lasting impact for individuals and the ecosystems we work to restore.
